Designer Kira Plastinina takes on New York with Tommy Ton

What was Kira Plastinina doing yesterday? The Russian-born fashion designer and junior at Southern Methodist University (see FD Luxe‘s February 2013 issue or this article for more on the budding designer) was in New York City for the production of her Lublu Kira Plastinina Fall/Winter 2013-14 collection ad campaign — only instead of supermodels and a studio, Plastinina and nine of her fashionable friends hit the pavement as stars of the shoot, with street-style photographer Tommy Ton there to document it all.

Making appearances are the The Man Repeller‘s Leandra Medine, London-based photographer, blogger and former model Candice Lake, Dallas’ own Goss-Michael Foundation associate director Jessica Olsson Nowitzki, fashion journalist Nasiba Adilova, former Harper’s Bazaar Russia editor and Buro 24/7 founder Miroslava Duma, Fivestory boutique owner Claire Distenfeld and the designer sisters behind Dannijo jewelry, Danielle Snyder and Jodi Snyder. Herewith, a sneak peek at the ad campaign and a behind-the-scenes look at yesterday’s stylish shoot. —Christina Geyer
