Fashion writer Suzy Menkes makes Christie's her consignment shop

A certain online auction at Christie’s has everyone in the FD Luxe office wildly distracted this afternoon. It goes by the name, In My Fashion: The Suzy Menkes Collection, and is live online now through July 22. The world-renowned fashion journalist — she is the longtime International Herald Tribune fashion editor — has turned Christie’s into her very own consignment shop, using the auction house as a means to unload valuable pieces from her wardrobe. There is a Chanel couture jacket from the ’80s, a whole slew of pieces by couturier Christian Lacroix, several Yves Saint Laurent tuxedos, even a Chanel seat cushion — presumably the one Menkes herself sat on. As for me? I’m keeping my eye on Lot 33: a flirty Emilio Pucci jersey dress from 1966.
