How this year's 'Ten Best Dressed Women of Dallas' fashion show will be different

If there’s one thing to know about Alexander McQueen, it’s that nothing about the British fashion house is ever The Same Old Thing. Even this year’s fashion show and luncheon for the Crystal Charity Ball Ten Best Dressed Women of Dallas, where McQueen is the honored label, will be different. (And we’re not just talking about the McQueen clothes. Though, thanks to the Elizabethan ruffles and cage masks that came down the runway for fall 2013, this should be one of the edgiest Ten Best shows yet.) At Neiman Marcus downtown, the scene of each year’s Ten Best extravaganza — think hundreds of impeccably dressed ladies — all those stilettos won’t be shuffling just through the store. Come September 12, the throng will fill a tent in the NM valet parking lot — it’ll feel like Fashion Week! — for a runway show of McQueen’s fall and resort collections and the chatty lunch, all which normally happens inside the store. Women who are whipped into a McQueen frappé can, indeed, shop inside, at a trunk show. Elizabethan ruffles, anyone?
