Photobooth trend: Flock Together Fotobooth’s gigantic paper flowers

Flock Together Fotobooth’s paper-flower backdrop

When I was a little girl, there was a song I would sing — something about candy hearts and paper flowers. It was from a Raggedy Ann cartoon that I would watch over and over. (To my 5-year-old mind, she and Raggedy Andy were the ultimate couple.) So when I walked into the Design District studio of Southern Fried Paper and saw a collage of paper flowers artfully arranged on the wall, I asked the paperie’s owner, Chelsea Carpenter, who created the installation. “We copied Flock Together Fotobooth,” she said. As it goes, the Dallas company, from husband-wife team Billy and Wendy Kay, counts among its selection of photo sets a chic one of gigantic, hand-made paper blooms, left. If that memorized lyric from my childhood is true (“Candy hearts and paper flowers will always keep me close to you”) then these paper flowers are a must for photographs on the day you say “I do.” Information 214-477-7619; —Christina Geyer
